On Tuesday 24th July, at 19:30, in the San Francesco Cloister, the journalist and writer Gennaro Sangiuliano will present his historical essay entitled "Scacco allo Zar. 1908-1910. Lenin on Capri: the genesis of the revolution" (Mondadori, 2012, page 154).
The event, promoted by the town council of Sorrento, in collaboration with the Amiche del Museo association, will be attended by Marco Demarco, director of the Corriere del Mezzogiorno.
In his work, Sangiuliano recounts of the two stays Lenin had on the Isle of Capri, between 1908 and 1910, time in which the island was already considered one of the most beautiful worldwide, and frequented by nobility from all over Europe, from great industry managers, writers to political refugees.
The volume presents an "unprecedented" Lenin, pledged to spend his days playing chess, fishing and meeting with "Comrades".
Sangiuliano also presents a new historical hypothesis: It is on the Isle of Capri where the relationship between Lenin and the German General Government started with the funding of the Bolshevik faction and the famous journey that re-took Lenin to Russia, and it is on Capri that the Russian revolutionaries started the October Revolution.
