Tre Golfi Sailing Week 2022 adds another “jewel” to its already precious sports crown, the first Maxi European Championship (14 – 21 May), organized by the Circolo Remo e Vela Italia under the auspices of IMA (International Maxi Association. The championship, open to Mini Maxis – between 18.29 and 24.08 meters long – and to the larger Maxis – from 24.09 to 30.50 meters – will use the IRC regulation as a rating system.
After the numerous World Championships organized over the years for Maxi, Mini Maxi and Maxi 72 (without forgetting the spectacular World Championship for the J Class in 2007), the first European Maxi Championship was greeted with great enthusiasm. Starts with a long distance race on the same course as the classic Tre Golfi (starting in front of Castel dell’Ovo at 7 pm on May 14, ahead of the rest of the fleet), followed by 4 days of inshore testing (from Tuesday 17 to Friday 20 May) with windward-leeward or coastal regattas in the stretch of sea between Capri and Sorrento. Only those registered for the European Championship will be hosted here, who will have the entire port and practically the whole picturesque village of Marina Piccola at their disposal.
